Social Enterprises: Interact with a location and create a legacy!

One of the things we love doing as part of our client’s programmes, is looking at different ways to interact with their chosen location. There are so many ways you can do this but one of our favourites and one which can build a strong legacy is by supporting local social enterprises.

So, what is a Social Enterprise?

What better source than Social Enterprise UK is there to tell you what it is all about. “Social enterprises are businesses that are changing the world for the better. Like traditional businesses, they aim to make a profit but it’s what they do with their profits that sets them apart – reinvesting or donating them to create positive social change.  Social enterprises are in our communities and on our high streets – from coffee shops and cinemas, to pubs and leisure centres, banks, and bus companies.”

Change Please

There are so many ways you can interact with social enterprises as part of your event programmes. You may have seen some of the (hopefully funny, sometimes cringey) videos Rick and Ed created for LinkedIn in the run-up to this year’s IMEX. During one of the videos, they introduced a favourite Word on the Street spot for coffee in London. Change Please is a social enterprise that works with homeless people, training them as baristas, giving them jobs, and supporting them with housing and their mental wellbeing. Its coffee doesn’t just taste good but also does good!

How can you incorporate an organisation such as this into your event? You can get coffee beans from Change Please to give to your guests or, better still, get them along to make the coffee!

How else can you incorporate Social Enterprises?

There are nearly 500,000 social enterprises across the whole of the UK. Almost every sector of society and business is covered from construction to creative, health to environment. This means not only can you add a great service or gift to your event, but you can also interact with companies that align with yours, creating a working partnership and a lasting legacy.

Word on the Street is a Supporting Member of Social Enterprise UK and this is something we are really proud of! Speak to our team to discover ways Word on the Street can interact social enterprises with your event programmes or Incentives.
